MGG proved that it is possible for people from different continents to find joint solutions

"The combination of academic interests with MGG's enriching experience on sustainable development goals, leadership, and the exchange of knowledge with colleagues from other countries, especially from the Global South, created alternatives and new approaches to the daily challenges that I face in the Brazilian reality, especially on land use and sustainable production chains."
Marcel Artioli, Brazil, MGG 2022, Researcher at Núcleo de Estudos e Análises Internacionais (NEAI) of the Institute of Public Policy and International Relations (IPPRI) of the State University of São Paulo
Marcel's change story:
The MGG journey provided many insights into project management and how to build trust among coworkers for impactful social projects. The knowledge accumulated in academic discussions about sustainability and leadership modules created a solid foundation for the projects I developed in São Paulo to be successful. In 2023, the project "Environmental and Economic Sustainability of the Honey Production Chain in Maroon Communities located in Conservation Units of Vale do Ribeira" gained momentum, with new applications in terms of team and conflict management, consultation with the target audience, and agile development.
In addition to the target audience, the Maroon Communities, and smallholder farmers, the insights gained from MGG contributed greatly to project management alternatives, such as agile management and capacity building for colleagues in my organization. Alternatives in planning activities and alignment between all parties involved in the projects, as well as the formation of new capabilities for social impact projects in rural development, were some of the changes brought about by the knowledge acquired on my journey at the MGG Academy 2022.
The main changes occured in the planning part of our activities. The way we communicate with the parties involved created a synergy that incorporated the needs of the target audience, establishing customized solutions for issues related to materials for beekeeping training, for example, starting a cycle that we see as virtuous for the success of the project, mainly because of the trust created between the partners.
